Learning Assessments

Understand How Your Child Learns. Discover What Helps Them Thrive.

Is your child struggling with reading, writing, maths or schoolwork?
At Daffodils Learn, our educational psychologists help you understand your child’s learning strengths, identify areas of difficulty and plan appropriate support for home and school.

When Might Your Child Need an Assessment?

A learning assessment may help if your child:
  • Struggles with reading, spelling, writing or maths
  • Finds it difficult to understand or remember information
  • Takes longer to complete schoolwork
  • Experiences frustration, low confidence or learning-related anxiety
  • May have a specific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia

What Do We Assess?

Depending on your child’s needs, we may explore:

Reading & Literacy

Accuracy, fluency, comprehension and phonological processing

Writing & Spelling

Grammar, spelling and written expression

Mathematics

Numerical skills and mathematical reasoning

Learning Skills

Memory, attention, reasoning and problem-solving

Language Skills

Understanding language, vocabulary and expressing ideas
Not every child needs every assessment component. Each assessment is tailored to the child’s age and learning concerns.

How Does It Work?

  1. 1

    Understand Your Concerns

We discuss your child’s developmental history, school experiences and learning challenges.
  2. 2

    Assess Learning Skills

Our educational psychologists use appropriate tools to explore your child’s learning profile and relevant academic skills.
  3. 3

    Receive Feedback & Recommendations

You receive feedback on your child’s strengths, areas of difficulty and practical strategies to support learning.

What If Further Assessment Is Needed?

A learning assessment may identify the need for further evaluation. When indicated, we refer families to clinical psychologists at Daffodils CDC for formal IQ testing and diagnostic evaluation for a specific learning disorder (SLD).

What Happens Next?

Based on the findings, recommendations may include:
  • Individualised literacy or academic support
  • Strategies for home and classroom learning
  • Collaboration with teachers, with your consent
  • Further assessment or specialist support, where needed
Our goal is to help you understand your child’s learning needs and build a practical plan that supports confidence, skills and participation.

Learning assessments identify strengths and areas requiring support but do not, by themselves, establish a diagnosis. Formal IQ testing and SLD diagnostic evaluations are referred to clinical psychologists at Daffodils CDC when indicated.
