Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), also known as learning disability (LD), is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects a child's ability to acquire, process, or use information effectively in areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, or other academic subjects.
Children with SLD may have difficulty with one or more of these academic areas despite having average or above-average intelligence. This disorder is typically identified during a child's early years in school when they struggle to keep up with their peers academically.
SLD can affect children in different ways and to varying degrees. Some may have difficulty with basic reading and writing skills, while others may struggle with more complex concepts such as comprehension, problem-solving, or mathematical reasoning.
